The Giraffe Centre, also known as African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW), is a sanctuary that was created specifically to save the Rothschild Giraffe in the 70's. It is located 5 kilometers outside Nairobi city in Langata Constituency. The sanctuary was started by Betty Leslie-Melville and her husband Jock in the 1970's and receives tens of thousands of annual visitors every year.
The doors are open everyday from 09:00 am to 05:00 pm including weekends and public holidays and has a teahouse and curio shop within it. In our excursion we'll get to handle the giraffes on an elevated feeding platform plus a 2km nature trail walk within the centre.
