The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust was founded in 1977 by Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick in memory of her late husband David Sheldrick. David was a founding warden of Tsavo East National Park and was an ardent naturalist.
DSWT has been instrumental in the nurturing of abandoned baby elephants and has been successful in raising hundreds of them and reintroducing them back into the wild over the years.
It is open everyday for public viewing from 11:00 am to noon. During these times you'll get to see the baby elephants come in for their daily mudbath. You'll get to interact with their handlers and get to know a little bit more about DSWT and the work they do. You can also get to "adopt" a baby elephant and donate to DSWT.
