Accommodation
Lentorre Lodge is a family owned and owner operated property in Kenya, ideally suited for exclusive use of the lodge and area for groups. We attract two types of guests.
The first traveller is the "intrepid explorer" - those wishing to visit an unfrequented part of Kenya, where you can safari ‘like the old days’. People who want to dig deeper, get their hands dirty and really experience Kenya. To explore the area which boasts the most incredible scenery and biodiversity - from salt lakes to fresh water rivers and springs, salt pans to savannah and dense forest; the conservation efforts and wildlife with proper wild safaris with no other cars or tourists around to interrupt you; the People - Maasai community and Culture, those that want to truly connect with the crew, not just be served by them. Guests that are happy to get out of cars and onto their feet to explore with walking, hiking and tracking. We appeal to guests that want to do stuff that is out of the norm like tubing down a Kenyan river, and flying helicopters over the Rift Valley salt lakes. We aim to show that there is so much more to a Safari experience than just drives. If that sounds like you- then we look forward to welcoming you! (note- we are great for families, and take kids of all ages).
The second traveller is the "photographer" - because of our Photographic hides and Aerial photography of the Soda lakes- we appeal to photographers. The opportunities for photographers of course also apply to the first type of traveller and add to their experience at the right time of the year. We have worked extremely hard developing our Photography offerings over the last 5 years. From an Aerial photography perspective, we can boast having done more hours with guests planning their trips and shots of the lakes than any other property, and we go as far as to plan timings, pilots, and settings. In regards Hides - Lentorre was the first lodge in East Africa to truly develop a professional photography hide and over the years the hide has produced numerous award-winning shots and captured some unique sightings (for example Leopard and striped hyena in one shot!). We continue to develop the hide yearly- never resting, and always offering some new development each year. In 2022 we successfully launched the very first successful back lighting for hide photography, and we attach some examples hereon. This was truly a first in the world. Responsible travel: Kindly note that a good portion of your safari is paid to the local community in conservation fees, bednight fees, and lease fees. Our crew is 95% made up from the local community, and we support the local farmers and shops. By traveling with us you are making a direct contribution to conservation of one of Kenya’s truly wild spaces.
