The late Joy Adamson wrote her books about the rehabilitation of a leopard at this reserve, which is close to the Buffalo Springs National Reserve. The Ewaso Nyiro's broad, meandering flow as it makes its way into the Lorian marsh serves as the reserve's northern boundary. This gem in the dry, rocky region of northern Kenya is undoubtedly a fitting start to a safari there.
On one day of bird watching, you may easily see over 100 different species of beautiful birds.
The river actually draws thousands of sand grouse, doves, and other smaller birds to its freshwater pools and streams. There are rare species of animals found only in this region and these are the reticulated Giraffe, the Somali Ostrich and the Grevy’s Zebra.
Other game include Elephant, Buffalo, Impala, Gazelle, the long necked Gerenuk, the beautiful Kudu, Dik Dik, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard and Oryx. The landscape is beautiful and full of eye-catching scenery.
